Interest groups

At begining of TPU, can someone explain why the concept of "Interrest Group" was replaced that the idea of "Learning Groups".

I'm not saying Learning Groups are a bad idea, I'd like to know why there are no Interrest Group on this site.

There aren't even really "learning groups" of any respectable nature yet. ;) Interest groups are a possibility also, but learning groups are a separate sort of thing entirely.

This thread could also lead to a brainstorming about what what IG we could put online and how we should do it.

Well really I think we have to keep the number of whatever group down as if there are too many ... shit happens.
