Try the site interface changes!

Posted by Psion [send private reply] at September 02, 2002, 01:48:55 PM

Please go to:

http://test.tpu.org/

and try the new framed interface. Post any bug reports or suggestions here. As previously mentioned, the test site has Interest Groups instead of Learning Groups.

It would be good for anyone willing to try out the interface both as himself and with a new test account created on the test site, watching out for things that could be confusing to new members. I've added a welcome message for new members on the test site (http://test.tpu.org/tea/RegisterNew). If you think anything else needs to be on it, say so here.

ehh.. in the interest groups (like c++) member/coordinator nicks are repeated a few times each...

I don't know what's up with that, but I think it's confined to the test site, so there's no point in fixing it.

Something that has to be added to the new member welcome message: Instructions for people completely new to programming. Perhaps something as simple as directing them to join the Python IG and try a tutorial linked from there would be good.

Why not another IG? What is so special about the Python IG?

Insofar as Python is often mentioned as a good beginning language.

Scheme is also used as a good beginning language. /me hugs Scheme because no one else loves it "there there, it'll be ok"

The 'catch up' button beside the forum links, just opens the menu bar and refreshes it.

Unless its supposed to..

It marks all the messages in that forum read.

and it needs to open a new window with only the new menu bar that refreshes every 300 seconds?
