really,i think it is shameful how much we mock ourselves in here.i see no reason why professionals like we call ourselves, wasting useful time on such ridiculous topics as:grammar fetish.it is rather unfortunate.come to think of it very few of us are from english speaking countries,we are only linked together by programming.

Its just nicer when people use correct grammer, punctuation etc... oR MayBE YoU Don't LIKE thAT?

bah who cares about grammer. You can play semantics all you like, but as long as the other person gets the idea your just wasting your time.
This place does get off topic, and it's because "programming" is too general of a topic, none of us will know everything and good luck finding someone who knows what you want them to. btw, having a "grammer fetish" implys that you always correct people's grammer, which is imho a thousand times more annoying.

It can be particularly annoying to read poorly written english though.

See, I've no problem with someone who corrects my sentences, because then I learn something from it and was reading their post no waste of my time. however when someone writes an answer in the style of "haha you made a grammar/spelling error. Loser!", I find that totaly immature and pathetic.

There are some ways of writing on the Internet that make it clear that the person is making no effort to be understandable.

There is a difference between making no effort to be understandable and making an effort to not be understandable, you know.

"It can be particularly annoying to read poorly written english though"
My feelings exactly. Case in point, the first post in this thread...

For some reason, when reading very flawed language, I find myself imagining the person spluttering and stumbling over words :-) Maybe that's just me.
