TPU on Mac

Posted by ken [send private reply] at June 23, 2003, 07:31:18 PM

Does TPU not care about it's Mac users? Safari is now the new and soon to be deafault browser on all Macs.

On Safari, TPU.org forum Subjects overlap the Tables on the left.

The Text boxes overlap things on the left as well.

It looks pretty screwed-up on Safari.

TPU.org is going down eventually so changing anything to this site is doomed to be a waste of time.

Plus, that only means Safari isn't standards compliant....

Occasionaly, the text boxes to on the left-hand side of the page are in the center in Mozilla, but not always.

hey, ken:

try www.mozilla.org, click "search", and search for camino. Thats a beautiful browser for os x, is fast and simple, and supports far more than safari.

i know, i use both regularly. :)

I use Safari on a regular basis, but it just looks awful. It has a better bookmark tool than Safari though.

I have Mozilla for Mac as well, but I don't feel like adding all my boomarks for Mozilla. It will take forever.

Camino does not support the sites I go to that well.

For instance, http://www.icejerseys.com that "Shop By Team" drop-down menu, doesn't work for my Camino browser.

EXPORT your Safari bookmarks and IMPORT them into Mozilla!!!

camino supports pretty well everything, and what it doesnt support, youll have trouble finding browsers that will.

ken, what sites would require that you have a non standards compliant browser?

Posted by stilldo [send private reply] at June 25, 2003, 01:15:42 AM

...well, hotmail requires javascript for signup, which is ironic because the version of Internet Explorer that ships with Mac OS 9 and X just dont support Javascript.

Safari has a little trouble with PHP forums occasionally, but that can be fixed by altering the design of the site slightly - i know, because I did so last night.

Oh, and there are a few browsers out there that support bug-all in the first place, but its best not to bother with them at all.

The fact that these forums are implemented in PHP has nothing to do with which browsers work with them....

Posted by stilldo [send private reply] at June 25, 2003, 01:58:29 AM

no no, its something to do with how the PHP pages are linked. it probably has nothing to do with the PHP pages themselves, though.

"camino supports pretty well everything, and what it doesnt support, youll have trouble finding browsers that will. "

Odd, for sites like icejerseys.com, it worked for a few people but for the rest of us the drop-down menus didn't work.

Our preferences were the same.
