So Far, So Good.

Hi,

I am new to these forums, and I thought Id let the site mods and admins know how I felt about their site so far. Well, I think it is certainly a great home for us young programmers trying to learn the ropes. I have found some great help on the forums already and look forward to staying around for quite a long time. The only small suggestion I have is to do with the articles. You have a couple already written and posted, which are great, but I would also like a few more shedding the light on some of the questions we have. Maybe even a Frequently Asked Questions page would be handy instead. That's just my opinion, and as an employee for a large website, I know suggestions can come in handy.

Keep up the great work!

Danny B.

OK, then write some articles. :-)

Or at least write up the questions that you frequently ask. :)

Oh.. Danny boy........ look.. look at those smiling faces.... ttup.. tupp.. (with the voice of... Jim Reeves)
They are the 'tpu' and this is their suggestions forum.
They are not newbie friendly. They are the best... they hate the rest...
They are the only... they are the intelligent... they know everything...
don't teach... don't suggest... don't talk...
only ask... just ask... as an ass. phrrrrrr.... prrrrr.....

You wasted your time. :)

I'll try my hand at poetry too.

We are the admins of 'tpu' and this is our suggestions forum.
We are newbie friendly, seen when we try to help them get started on programming by answering questions on a daily basis. We are the best (okay, I'll leave this one in)...
We are the only people who have put in the time to write several articles, construct a working web site, answer questions, and be on #TPU to help people in real time... We are the intelligent (tis true)... We know a lot of things, but one thing we don't is what you'd like to see in an article. We don't have hours and hours of free time to spend on this site, and we're not telepathic, so we can't write a FAQ if we don't know what to put in it. If you asks us for some specific information, we'll be glad to talk about it as much as we can...
We don't teach to people who don't ask things that we're able to answer... We don't suggest bad ways to program... We don't talk to people who annoy us (::cough:: CHollman)...
Don't only ask, read and learn and contribute....

How was that?

(Summary: we're people too with things to do beyond this website, and what you've asked of us was beyond our limits.)

Here's a few poems that I carved into the back of my motherboard... (booo)

Here is some poetry,
For ronybc,
Take it easy,
When have we,
Pur-pose-ly,
Not answered a question?

ro-ny do you mean,
That quick start guides do not teach?
How about you read one?

That was awful.

I liked Cobbs' last one. Even if shocking as poetry, it's all good for a laugh.

I only have a serial number carved into the back of my Motherboard.

But I too will illustrate my views to the tune of "Mary had a little lamb":

Chollman was an ass to us,
ass to us,
ass to us,
Chollman was an ass to us,
and treated without respect.
Ad-min Gian drove him away,
him away,
him away,
Ad-min Gian drove him away,
which was a great success.
But Hollman did come back one day,
back one day,
back one day,
But Hollman did come back one day,
in the form of CodeRed.
This made the admins scream and shout,
scream and shout,
scream and shout,
This made the admins scream and shout,
and REALLY PISSED GIAN OFF.

It looks like I'd better start carving....

it's haiku

Posted by buzgub [send private reply] at December 06, 2001, 07:41:15 PM

I know it was haiku, but haiku usually expresses some unique thing of beauty (IMHO). That would make your poem an abuse of the form.

that's all i wanted to hear :p
