Todo/wish list
Posted by RedX [send private reply] at March 07, 2002, 11:19:37 AM
Wouldn't a wish- or todolist be usefull? If people could have a list of wanted stuff (tutorials or whatever), someone might get to writing and submitting it.

an asm quickstart guide/tutorial might be cool -- we've got PHP and C etc already there; something lower level could be a good addition.

Unfortunately that is still reliant on other people. If you want a Quick start guide done, do it yourself. You probably don't even need to know the thing itself... just ask around, and do some research.

And I think this forum is a nice place for posting wishes. =)

And RedX has come through with another quickstart guide for us. It took me quite a bit of wrestling with the code he sent to get it to compile here, so I'll be working on an online validator for article XML that authors can use in the future. =)

Nice job, RedX.

I hope I didn't put in too much creative grammar and spelling. :-)
I haven't done much webstuff. The few pages I made, were done with Outlook Express or the HTML-output from Publisher or Word. Such a validator would indeed be handy. RedX

I wish *you* would switch to vBulletin.

Taubz: lol :-)
Codered: I cut your face.

Taubz: No idea what you mean by that
Gian: No idea what you mean by that

Well, Taubz's comment was implying that he wished for you to go somewhere which wasn't here, and mine was an empty threat of violence if you kept on suggesting Vbulletin.

I love this BBS! It has been here forever and remains basically the same since I last was here. What I would like (once and if I finish this book about Python) is to start up some stuff from back in the day when I used to come around more frequently. I remember the group projects and stuff like that. There were the send in programs things and contests etc... I know then that it was popular for a short while, but maybe we could revive it?

Since when is this a BBS? Was it originally?
Posted by Psion [send private reply] at March 18, 2002, 08:49:44 AM
LP, it is somewhat dubious to say that those things were "popular" for a short while. Many people said they liked the ideas, but less than 3 people actually participated in any of the initiatives you mentioned, in terms of doing more than just posting messages.

True, true... I suppose a lot of people here aren't ready to commit to stuff like that. Still it was a good idea then.
Also, I don't care what you call it I still think it is great. I don't think it needs to be changed ever, because it works just fine the way it is. Linux_Penguin

*sigh* did TPU used to be a BBS?
Posted by Psion [send private reply] at March 22, 2002, 02:12:50 PM
BBS means bulletin board system. These are bulletin boards by popular terminology, and this is a system; therefore this is a BBS.

I'm refering to the bulletin boards of olden days... you know the ones you connect to using hyper terminal and are confusing as hell to find anything on.

No, I don't believe TPU was ever in that form.
