Different kind of guides section

Posted by Linux_Penguin [send private reply] at March 30, 2002, 01:52:48 AM

I was thinking that this might be a good idea, what about a section dedicated to 'more in depth guides'. This section could have some follow ups to some of the quick start guides and could have some input from people who have had some expierience on whatever the topic is give some advice. Maybe there could be some more advanced ideas introduced as well.
(Oh yeah, don't ask me to write one(I'm just suggesting the idea)).

If you can explain why anything like that should only be made available to teens, then I'm all ears.

I think this site should have a whole bunch of articles, it doesn't matter how many people see it but rather how many people learn from it.

I've been thinking about writing a C++ tutorial or tutorials. would that be alright to putup on the site?

Go for it.

I would look for existing, quality tutorials on a topic to which we can link before writing your own. If a subject really is unexplored, or not covered adequately, then it might be appropriate to try to write your own. Of course, if there is some way to benefit from a "community feel" for TPU tutorials, then the idea might be worth exploring. It sounds like enough people like the idea to make it worthwhile trying if you are willing to write something.

OK, but be prepared for rejection if there are any factual errors in it, detectable by folk like I who have written C compilers. =) There are simply too many resources out there to claim to have any substitutes here when there aren't good reasons why they serve this community better.

I would have to agree that reinventing the wheel is just a waste of time, especially when "Learn programming" tutorials seems to be available in their thousands.
