Style sheet madness!

You should be able to control all aesthetic properties of the site appearance by following the Preferences link at top right and changing the "site appearance" field to a URL to a different style sheet. I assume that everyone has at least some web space available these days, so please set up your own alternate styles there, try them out, and post style sheet URL's here! I'll add any non-awful ones on this server and list them on the Preferences page. You can control all the colors, fonts, and box styles, as well as the background image used along the top and the vertical and horizontal divider images (by changing the backgrounds of particular table or td classes). For those too lazy to look in the source, the style sheet you see now is probably http://www.tpu.org/tpu.css

Cool, I already removed that annoying italics-on-link-hover and tweaked the link hover colors.
... ... maybe I should learn how to use CSS. :)

Mind giving me the link to the css you are using, all I want to do is disable hover italics

I have lowered the contrast in the tables to a grey, keeping it readable, but without having it burn the eyes. And I've removed the hover italics.

I've copied your style sheet over the old one. You can use http://www.tpu.org/black.css if you prefer the one one.

I just made it cuz the italic hovers annoyed me, and I agreed with Gian that it burned the eyes. :)

I like the new background color, but the link hover in the colored boxes needs to be more different from non-hover. My css is at http://24.45.226.19:93/tpu.css it's not up when I restart my computer (not often) since I don't run my HTTP server on my always on comp right now.

would it be a lot of trouble to get rid of the hard-coded 10-pt font in the left sidebar? It's not playing nice with Verdana.
The grey sidebars bugged me, so i got rid of them, and changed it all to a consistent near-white-on-black with medium blue accents. less clashy. http://katie.rivard.org/junk/ktpu.css
