Seeking Help - C++, mySQL & IRC

Posted by PeteB [send private reply] at July 14, 2002, 11:54:19 PM

Hi :) I'm looking for somebody that would be interested in doing a project (I may be able to throw some $ your way). I believe it would be pretty simple to someone who is familiar with coding IRC applications.

Basically, we need a small version of a NickServ for our IRC server, which we use as a chat room for the website. The only main function it would have is to check all incoming connections with our user database. If the username is registered in the database, it would ask for their password or for them to change their nick. If they don't do either, simply Guest them. That's pretty much it. Our user database is powered by mySQL. Please e-mail me at PeteBWhat@polarcreek.net if you would be interested.

Thanks! :)

Why not just grab the Nickserv from dancer-ircd and modify it...If you know C++ you could modify bobot++ (http://sv.gnu.org/projects/bobotpp ... check out the latest stuff from CVS for the up-to-date dev branch) to run as a service (since it is scriptable with Scheme you could use RAW hooks to have it parse new user joins and use simplesql to query a db...)
