http://www.artscore.net - Cutecast

Its the one I was going to use on my fishing website that never took off.
- It usses cgi and perl just for the reference, I can't think why you want a specific Java message board.

maybe he means javascript, or a chat room. Java is not typically (ever) used for message boards.

Do you have ASP or PHP on your server? For the beginer I'd go with those.
(Is this going to be another one post wonder?)

mop, isn't THIS board Java?

If there's PHP on the server you can use PHPBB http://phpbb.com/

if you count JSP..
I just said that because 'phatchat' sounds like a chat site, and it would make more sense that he'd want a chatroom in java, but was mistaken for a message board in Java or something

WHat are Java Servelets, how do you use them, and how complicated are they (a link to a non-sun tutorial will do, I don't like the Sun tutorials, they're hard to navigate).

You could use vBulletin, or several other free ones

hotscripts.com has some good choices for bulletin boards. Just choose the language and make sure you have the right database.
