Linux V Windows programming

Is the Linux enviroment better than the windows enviroment to program on

BEDGE: Linux programming is a little more "hard core", but it is a much nicer (in my mind) enviroment to work in, because of the abundant programming tools and the documentation of almost every aspect of the OS.

it really depends on what kind of people you want to use your apps. Also depends on which language. If you want to use C or C++, there are a bunch of packages for windows and linux. I was a visual basic programmer but switched to linux and am now trying to teach myself C. I like using emacs and Glade for the GUI. It's a lot more fun and (IMHO) easier to work with when doing resizing and such.
