Saving files in PHP

..The \ that is added to the " and ', how is this solved. A simple PHP script that I wrote allows multiple people to work on the same Java program, but of course I get the syntax errors whenever there are qoutations involved, because saving the file in php adds the \s
I am switching to JSP, but for one server this program will run on, it is only able to have PHP.
