Networks under Windows...

Ive been searching relentlessly on the net for documentation on
networking under Windows (rest assured that i have searched the MSDN site for info). Basiclly im trying to learn more about firewalls (making my own) and the like, but I want to figure out how to gain (lock) control of networking under windows(maybe set a hook?), to monitor ports for suspicious traffic, or just to implement a firewall. I know or atleast I think, that the Winsock API is not enough... Any help will be greatly appreciated

That might require writing a device driver to replace the standard TCP/IP protocol driver.

I've decided that Windows networking sucks (Not programming network stuff, just the whole networking interface in general). I got my Unix to Unix network going in a matter of minutes, my Windows network is as of yet... dead. If you're into masochism, try networking Unix to windows! More computers means more pain!

I don't know, maybe you're doing something wrong =]
I have MacOS, FreeBSD, Windows 2000, Windows 98 and Linux all working nice and cozy together here.
