Using apache - how do i use it??

Hey guys...
You say "use apache if you want free whatever".

Well i wanna be able to execute my CGI's but i can't... and i have no idea how to use apache.
I have downloaded it.. and installed it... but my dick will get cut off before i work out how to use it by myself....

please please shed some light on this guys.

Windows or Linux? Do you have the server running already? Are you getting Internal Server Errors?

well, windows... and do i need to actually ftp my pages onto the apache server?

just like, i can make my scripts... make the pages... where do i go from here??????

in the folder where you installed apache there's a folder called htdocs which contains the pages to be served up. Just lob your files into there to make apache read them. I think pretty much everything else is cross-platform, so other people can help you with getting cgi working... I've never even tried :(

For clarification, FTP and apache aren't related. One uses FTP to get files onto a computer, regardless of what the files are for, not to put them into a program, like apache, or anything.

I just remembered. I used to use OmniHTTPd on my computer for testing CGI scripts. Maybe you should search for that instead - it's a lot easier to set up. The concept is the same, though - just put the files you want the server to serve into the directory on your computer that the server is set up to use.

try xitami for windows...it's what i use for testing.....easy to use/setup --- www.xitami.com/org (can't remember which)
