BIOS problem

Posted by CodeRed [send private reply] at November 05, 2001, 03:04:49 PM

When I start my comp it says "BIOS ROM Checksum Error"
I tried clearing the CMOS several times, still nothing.
Should I buy a new BIOS chip for $35? Is there another way to fix this?

I would recommend you do, as generally in a case like this somehow your BIOS chip has become corupt, you weren't trying to flash it were you? I did that on a new ASUS board, and was forced to order a pre-flashed brand new chip from the states. Now, assuming there's no way to boot your system to a floppy with a flash program and a new bios (ie your bootblock is dead too), a new BIOS chip would fix this problem.
