Why would you want to override the entire HD? Simply override the FAT (or FAT32 or whatever file allocation thingy is used). Ofcourse that would require you to search where that table is and how to override it. But spending time on that would at least teach U how to get info yourself and how to code some of the more "advanced" thingies in the ancient art of programming. And it might inspire you to do something actually usefull. While it might look mighty inpressive to your friends, the real world isn't waiting for another virus (anti-virus industries excluded).

not only that but people do get found out, if the virus is a potentially great threat. Look at the melinda virus. 3 Philipeno Teens were arrested because of that.

Those teen are going to spend the next 75.000 years paying back the damage they did.
The big winner in this matter were (actually are) the antivirus industry (Those Idiots who write virus' are making them *really* rich) and the school those 3 teens wend to.

grab a win32 api reference (or similar) and browse it...
you'll get many nasty ideas and maybe learn something along the way. maybe even (thats if you're lucky) something useful.

About the "getting caught"-part. Everything you do on the internet is logged. The only reason you don't get busted for small web-offences is the high cost of investigating them. But if they want to get you, it's only a matter of time. You may think you can get away because you learned a few tricks to cover your tracks, just don't forget that the feds (or whatever police-club is dealing with web-crime) know these tricks too.

Right... my turn... (The capitals are for effect)

ARE YOU STUPID? NO VIRUS OR TROJAN WRITING!!! BAD!

Don't bother.... it's not at all worth it... all it will get you is trouble, and annoy everybody else.... plus, the fact that you are interested in writing a trojan/virus probably means that you are not at a level of programming skill where you could do much damage... kinda a natural defensive layer....

Haha... cool catch-22

Antivirus companies thrive off people like you. If virii didn't exist they couldn't make the billions of dollars they are making now. If they didn't exist they would probably make their own. But, if you are going to make a virus then you should make a virus that actually does something good, that would be a new one.
