Discrete mathematics: The science of computing without disturbing others. ;-)

"Discrete Mathematics
Discrete mathematics problems can be classified in three broad categories, existence problems, counting problems and optimization problems. [NCTM 1991 Yearbook, p.1-2] "

Discrete is like 3rd year (semester) calc. Thats all I know. I'm still in first semester, and I think I am failing

Discrete math is completely separate from calculus. You have no idea what you're talking about, and I don't know why you thought you should post this.

Optimization is a calc concept, it is the third course in my colleges 4 course sequence, after calc 1 and 2.

Optimization in discrete math is completely separate from introductory calculus optimization. Discrete math is called such because it generally doesn't work with continuous sets of numbers, like real numbers, or at least the final goals of a problem don't involve them. Optimization in a discrete math context would be more likely to be proving that an algorithm runs in optimal time, etc..

Discrete maths is a branch of maths that talks about when things would happen and how it would happen(Probability).

U also have things called Permutations and Combinations. It is quite easy if u get a hang of it, but if u dont...I think Code Red is finding out what ill happen.....
