Perl vs. PHP

can php handle queries and sending info between the client and server? cuz if it doesn't i'll go ahead and learn perl, even though its more complex. Someone please tell me.

PHP and Perl are basically equivelant in terms of their capabilities as far as I know.

PHP can do everything since sliced bread was all there by it's lonesome.
