Hey all TPU Guys, just a small thing, could you paste a few peices of code from programs you have used in VB that make use of the Winsock Control into a reply to this thread. I need to know some stuff and general knowledge on Winsock so please take the time to do it!

You say you need general knowledge on the Winsock, yet you want code for VB? That's a contradiction. I've used the Winsock control in VB (back in my BASIC days), and it's simplicity in itself. Programming sockets, on the other hand, is a bit harder, though still not all too hard.

Also, I don't think there's a lot of people here who *use* VB, to be honest. :)

Yes, if VB now is like it was 5 years OK, there should be an object browser or whatnot that lets you view all of the methods for that control. In addition, you should be able to find tutorials to get you started somewhere.

I *use* VB! (Well... I can't now that I'm running Linux full time....)

GNOME BASIC to the rescue! (seriously..VB clone, I dunno how complete it is though. Look on freshmeat.net for it)...

Hehe.. I was just randomly browsing through a magazine, and I stumbled on a VB clone that enables you to program for MacOS, MacOS X and Windows, with the same code.

No real relation here, but I just thought of it, and well, if anyone should be in the need for that particular stuff, they can check out www.realbasic.com :)
