Which Sun Java comiler?

At the downloads at Sun for the Java compiler, for Windows, there are two downloads, JRE and Forte /SDK. So which file has the compiler? ThanX!

Forte is a java SDK, the compiler is included. Don't use Forte, TextPad is better

As I understand it, the SDK contains the compiler, and forte is an IDE which may or may not be packaged alongside the SDK.

The JRE will only let you run java programs, not make them. You need something with the JDK (java development kit).

I use eclipse ( http://ecplise.org/ ) for a Java IDE. It's very nice.
