Visual Basic and Access

Posted by vikram_1982 [send private reply] at July 01, 2002, 10:54:23 AM

I have Visual Basic 6 and Access XP. I have an access database that was created in Access XP, and I tried linking it to Visual Basic DAO/ADO , but it simply refused by giving an error similar to "not a valid database" ( I dont remember the actual error , but this was the gist basically.)

But things work fine when I connect a database created with Access 97. Is VB6 incompatible with Access XP?? If not, what should I do??

Short answer: yes

Long answer: yes. VB6 is old. Access xp is really new. VB cant understand an XP database, or a 2000 DB. Must be 97. You can use XP or 2000 and backwards convirt the database.

If you download SP 5 for VB6, you will be able to link to an Access 2000 database. I'm not sure about Access XP. Try this link though:
