Fotran is the best.

Gopher is the best.

Mosaic 3.0 browses the best.

FreeBSD is the best.

It appears that vladmir_l is the kind of guy that likes to be beaten about the face! (fortran! gopher! mosaic!)

Lay off my idioms of computer life ... You should try them first. Mosaic still works very well and it only crashes when you type in http://www.tpu.org ( I dunno why > ? )

Mosaic is an evil proprietary browser, meaning I can't use it.

Hello,

Get to know the characters around here

unkown_lamer loves Linux
vladimir_1 lover signatures (- Vlad)
@Gian loves changing my perfectly legitimate Lock a thread comment into I like eating potatoes or something to that effect

They have other traits, but I can't be bothered naming them

Welcome, and enjoy programming

Posted by unknown_lamer [send private reply] at July 21, 2002, 10:22:39 PM

I love the GNU system! I just happen to use it with the Linux kernel (give me sound support and I'm jumping ship to the Hurd).

I had warned everyone that I would edit any further posts to make the poster look silly.

I am a potato, sitting in a tree. Why am I in this tree, you may ask, indeed. I am in this tree, because gian made me look silly, and now I worship him, from this tree.

Cool site vlad, I think Im gonna try that tea! To bad all of the commy propoganda will be ignored by these silly capitolists!!! (LOL :) Later in life if I ever run for some government office this post is gonna come back to haunt me)

Posted by Zandalf [send private reply] at July 26, 2002, 06:04:53 PM

wait, I think that the fact that you use linux will come back more. after all, isn't the FSF just another implementation of communism, except in the realm of thought instead of government?

Posted by gian [send private reply] at July 26, 2002, 08:53:32 PM

Essentially, except with some other parts thrown in.

Posted by unknown_lamer [send private reply] at July 26, 2002, 09:47:32 PM

Free Software != Communism. And Communism != Communism. What you think is communism is really marxism. Get your political theories straight.

Posted by Zandalf [send private reply] at July 27, 2002, 01:38:23 AM

wait a sec.

you just said the equivalent of 1 != 1...

lala, oh well, you are correct, but communist was based on marxist ideals (at least some of them) wasn't it?

Posted by unknown_lamer [send private reply] at July 27, 2002, 02:12:15 AM

No, Marxism is a pollution of anarchist ideals.

I never saw the end of the IRC scream-a-thon so I dont know whos view won.... but communism today = socialism. And communism is aimed at making a utopian society and as unknown_lamer said on IRC "a utopia is anti-utopian".

Posted by diegoeskryptic [send private reply] at July 27, 2002, 09:50:42 AM

there can never be a complete communist society!

Posted by unknown_lamer [send private reply] at July 27, 2002, 12:48:51 PM

s/anti-uptopian/disutopian/

The point of the book "Utopia" was to show that a perfect society could never exist because the citizens would have to give up all of their freedoms to keep the order, thereby making it horrible and imperfect.
