Disliking Microsoft

Posted by 142857 [send private reply] at July 14, 2002, 08:26:43 PM

Why does it seem like so many people have problems with Microsoft? Thanks

Posted by CodeRed [send private reply] at July 14, 2002, 08:28:14 PM

I answered this question in a previous thread

Posted by jay_dee [send private reply] at July 14, 2002, 11:33:44 PM

Posted by diegoeskryptic [send private reply] at July 14, 2002, 11:54:16 PM

I did a thread on Bill Gates and microsoft.... Hey 143857.. u should read some of the threads b4 posting.....

Posted by metamorphic [send private reply] at July 15, 2002, 09:31:46 AM

Basically, a summary would be that windows costs too much for what it is, its unstable, slow and buggy (although XP seems to be failrly stable) and MS lock you into upgrades. Also office is very expensive and locks you into an upgrade cycle.

We all should love Microsoft its a great OS and its free ( well almost you pay for the internet call charges while downloading either a crack or the whole NT operating system )

Original Windows is free, as long as you show up for the Launch events ^^

Posted by vladimir_l [send private reply] at July 22, 2002, 10:51:50 AM

Yeah well that means wasting precious time on going to listen to stupid microsoft people.

Posted by CViper [send private reply] at July 22, 2002, 03:39:59 PM

And who knows what the entry fee for those events is?

Posted by vladimir_l [send private reply] at July 22, 2002, 03:58:13 PM

And what sort of food they have, if any ( thats important ). Really Microsoft Mass Capitalism Propaganda events dont look nice ...

Posted by RedX [send private reply] at July 22, 2002, 05:26:10 PM

The trick is to listen to hard music while your in the danger zone (means every place where you can still here the marketing people).

Posted by vladimir_l [send private reply] at July 22, 2002, 05:37:35 PM

You mean metallic.

Cya all - Vlad.

Posted by RedX [send private reply] at July 22, 2002, 05:54:46 PM

Doesn't matter,as long as its loud! And don't be egoistic, don't use a headphone. Use speakers, big ones and many of them. Everyone (except MS-people) will be thankfull.

Posted by unknown_lamer [send private reply] at July 22, 2002, 05:56:39 PM

Let's crash a launch event and play some Strapping Young Lad! S.Y.L.

Posted by RedX [send private reply] at July 22, 2002, 06:01:02 PM

How about we replace the gold disk of the next windows release by a CD with linux. I bet that would be funny.

Posted by vladimir_l [send private reply] at July 22, 2002, 06:11:08 PM

Metallica or Megadeth or Mozrt or Sveridov !!!

Posted by unknown_lamer [send private reply] at July 22, 2002, 07:13:29 PM

/me replaces Windows XP-SE with Debian Woody (woody was _finally_ released)

Posted by CodeRed [send private reply] at July 23, 2002, 12:26:43 AM

I got a techno song that goes "This is meant to be played at high volume, preferably in a residential area" One of my favorite trunk thumping car songs

Posted by diegoeskryptic [send private reply] at July 23, 2002, 11:33:00 AM

"This is meant to be played at high volume, preferably in a residential area" .... That comes from Dr.dre's CHronic album.....

Posted by CodeRed [send private reply] at July 23, 2002, 12:08:49 PM

They must've stole the lyrics cus it is a techno song, not rap

Posted by AngelOD [send private reply] at July 23, 2002, 12:15:08 PM

Depends on which of the songs were made first, doesn't it? Could just as well be stolen from the rap song. I mean, those annoying DJs does it all the time, so why not?

Posted by diegoeskryptic [send private reply] at July 23, 2002, 12:58:15 PM

nah dude.... im telling u... tha Chronic came out long time ago.. but its all good... they always take shit from RAP ne way.... look at fuking MOBY ( who i cant stand) and Limp Bizkit (who I love) just to name a few... but music is music so fuk it...

Posted by unknown_lamer [send private reply] at July 23, 2002, 02:06:51 PM

What was wrong with SYL by Strapping Young Lad? It's loud, fast, angry, and anti-corporate.

Posted by diegoeskryptic [send private reply] at July 23, 2002, 03:10:48 PM

I dont get it... lets just drop this topic and stop wasting bandwith.... seems like a lil bit of VLAD has rubbed off on all of us...

Posted by Neumann [send private reply] at July 23, 2002, 04:00:47 PM

Yeah! Let's blame all the world problems on Vlad. It's soooo convenient.

Posted by unknown_lamer [send private reply] at July 23, 2002, 05:02:59 PM

You know, the bandwidth wasted by you telling me to stop wasting bandwidth was more than what I wasted with my post. Of course, I am wasting bandwidth by saying this (and the explination of how I am wasting bandwdith, it's endless recursion). And the bandwidth wasted might not be wasted (depends on who you ask), and it's such a small amount anyway (come on, is a few dozen bytes worth crying over?)

Posted by taubz [send private reply] at July 23, 2002, 06:48:51 PM

Enough.

Posted by CodeRed [send private reply] at July 24, 2002, 11:20:47 PM

"Depends on which of the songs were made first, doesn't it? Could just as well be stolen from the rap song. I mean, those annoying DJs does it all the time, so why not?"

That's what I meant, the techno DJ stole it from Dre

Posted by diegoeskryptic [send private reply] at July 24, 2002, 11:54:09 PM

oh man... i thought we were dropping this damn topic... can someone plz lock this thread!.. there is already one like it... (the bill gates forum i started a while back!)....

Posted by CodeRed [send private reply] at July 25, 2002, 12:11:35 AM

Its funny to see how people hate Bill Gates, but i bet ne amount of cash that If you people had the opportunity to be him.... you will!!!

Posted by unknown_lamer [send private reply] at July 25, 2002, 04:18:37 PM

I wouldn't be Bill Gates. He is a godless, evil, proprietary software pushing capitalist. Capitalism is bad for your health. Free Software is the only way to go.

Posted by diegoeskryptic [send private reply] at July 25, 2002, 04:24:31 PM

HAHA.... then move to Cuba dude... What makes you think that he is GODless.... he is no different than any of these other TOP BUSINESS MEN HERE IN AMERICA (and you know what im talking about).. the only difference wit Gates is that he is richer than the other BLOODSUCKERS!

Posted by unknown_lamer [send private reply] at July 25, 2002, 04:46:45 PM

Marxism != good either.

sorry but i dont believe in anarchism

Posted by gian [send private reply] at July 25, 2002, 07:15:30 PM

What do you mean "I don't believe in anarchism"?
Surely "I don't support anarchism" would be more appropriate? Not believing implies that you are questioning it's existance.

Posted by unknown_lamer [send private reply] at July 25, 2002, 08:18:44 PM

Anarchy is great.

Posted by diegoeskryptic [send private reply] at July 25, 2002, 10:16:33 PM

IM sorry MR.GIAN.... I do not "support" Anarchism

Posted by CodeRed [send private reply] at July 25, 2002, 11:25:52 PM

"Anarchy is great"

Lots of rebelious teens seem to think so until they learn how the real world works

Posted by unknown_lamer [send private reply] at July 26, 2002, 12:26:06 AM

Real World (tm) eh? The real world is what you make of it.

Posted by metamorphic [send private reply] at July 26, 2002, 04:55:04 AM

reality, what ever the hell that is.....

Anyway, democracy and a free market are better than most forms of government. However Marxist communism do have its advantages (everyone gets paid the same amount), but wouldnt work due to corruption. While were talking about government, i think the best type to have would be a virtual (pure) democracy. One where we dont have a senete or parlement, but where the people vote on every aspect, not just in general and local elections. It would require more political education for that though.

Posted by unknown_lamer [send private reply] at July 26, 2002, 10:51:42 AM

In Anarchist social structures everyone is equal so the problem of corruption doesn't exist. It just assumes that people are smart enough to run their own lives and can do things for themselves (direct action). Current governments assume that people are basically idiots that need other people to tell them how to live. I for one don't think that is true.

Posted by CodeRed [send private reply] at July 26, 2002, 12:18:28 PM

"Current governments assume that people are basically idiots that need other people to tell them how to live. I for one don't think that is true"

I can tell you for a FACT that the majority of the population ARE idiots who DO need other people to keep them in line. If America's system of government ceased to exist, our economic and industrial infrastructure would collapse in a matter of months. Crime rate, unemployment, and poverty would skyrocket. Our hospitals would shut down, diseases would run rampant killing off vast chunks of our population. Basically we would become a third world country overnight, and that is not a coincedence, third world countries are so because of their lack of a competent government.

Posted by CodeRed [send private reply] at July 26, 2002, 12:20:05 PM

"The real world is what you make of it"

Again, lots of rebelious teens seem to think so...

Posted by RedX [send private reply] at July 26, 2002, 12:24:15 PM

"Current governments assume that people are basically idiots that need other people to tell them how to live" does imply that M$ is a government.

I think humanity will evolve into an anarchy when it grows up. Just give the kids time to learn.

Posted by RedX [send private reply] at July 26, 2002, 12:25:54 PM

"The real world is what you make of it" is inaccurate.

"The real world is what we all make of it" would be more correct.

Posted by CodeRed [send private reply] at July 26, 2002, 12:27:39 PM

Just look at the Enron thing. Cost thousands of people their lives savings, sent our economy into a downward spiral we're nowhere near getting out of, and that happened WITH government controls in place.

Posted by RedX [send private reply] at July 26, 2002, 12:47:39 PM

Multinationals are simply more powerfull than governments. If the government doesn't cooperate, they close there local factories and reopen them in some cheap labor country. A democratic government can't afford such a thing as that would make re-election improbable (would you vote for the person who costed your job?).

Posted by unknown_lamer [send private reply] at July 26, 2002, 02:28:19 PM

The corporations wouldn't exist in anarchy. You know, maybe crime is caused by the government--when you have a hierarchical social structure (i.e. a class system) you create a group of people who must do things like steal to survive. If there were no higher classes and everyone shared (what a concept; you could share when you were five, so why can't you share when you grow up) then crime would be lowered drastically. The world is a different place when "the man" isn't crushing your hopes and dreams anymore.

Society creates its own foils ^_^

Posted by CodeRed [send private reply] at July 27, 2002, 12:30:01 AM

Well lamer, take this into consideration, if the US developed under anarchy, crime and all that may very well have been better, however, what are the chances we would have automobiles today? or the assembly line? or plastics? or airplanes? or computers? If there were no incentive to come up with new ideas no one would bother, the reason we do is for money, the reason everyone does everything is for money.

Posted by unknown_lamer [send private reply] at July 27, 2002, 01:10:45 AM

Does it matter if you have those things as long as you are happy?

Posted by CodeRed [send private reply] at July 27, 2002, 01:16:34 AM

I wouldn't be very happy if I was unable to go see my mom and my little sisters who live over 1000 miles from me

Posted by unknown_lamer [send private reply] at July 27, 2002, 01:20:35 AM

Your mom and sisters wouldn't live 1000 miles away from you. The family unit would be much more important.

Posted by Zandalf [send private reply] at July 27, 2002, 01:40:01 AM

arguing about what if's isn't going to get you anywhere, the question is, what would you want tomorrow to be? more crime and technology, or something else?
