This is a programming message board buddy, but I am sure I am preaching to deaf ears since you won't be back.

seems as if people just love to come to TPU to ADVERTISE their sites... Yeah I think its time for spam....

Posted by mop [send private reply] at August 12, 2002, 12:33:17 PM

if we post his e-mail repeatedly will the spam harvesters pick it up again and again, or do the programs at least only pick up one copy of the e-mail?

Posted by FatalDragon [send private reply] at August 12, 2002, 02:17:21 PM

DoSS?

Posted by gian [send private reply] at August 12, 2002, 05:03:32 PM

mop: Different spam harvesters would pick it up!

Hmmm... How about subscribing that email address to tons of different newsletters... Muahaha

Posted by mop [send private reply] at August 12, 2002, 06:10:08 PM

or pr0n websites

Someone always signs me up for them, and as a little joke its pretty old now. Although I do know that its a good way to get 5+ spams a day.

Hmmm, as for his suggestion, I don't think I need help there anyway! On with the spam!

Posted by mop [send private reply] at August 13, 2002, 02:42:36 AM

Another way to stop these spammers would be to allow people to vote for threads posted by people with <5 posts. Say if 10 or so different members voted then the post would be automatically deleted.

This should have gone into suggestions.
So sue me.

Or one of the admins could delete it. This hasn't yet reached epidemic proportions, tho.

I tested the sign up to newsletter things on my sister, the next day she wasn't too pleased with the 400 letters in her inbox, yups I say spam them. The best way is to sign them up to those sites that offer hundreds, if not thousands of newsletters. I say we do it to this site as a warning to anyone else planning to do it.
