Nameservers / Domain Hosting

Posted by CViper [send private reply] at September 16, 2002, 09:06:17 AM

Just registered a domain (gTLD), but the place i registerd it at does not provide any real domain hosting (except you like to pay alot each time you change the IP it points to or add an subdomain etc. basicly as soon as you do something, you have to pay more)

Does anyone know a "good" place (cheap [also mind that i don't have access to a credit card], access to stuff [subdomains etc]) to host a domain at? (No webspace needed right now.. that part comes later)

nameroute.com is really cheap. It has hosting included, in addition free changing of nameservers.

www.zoneedit.com is free, and I believe they have 99.9% uptime (you'll never get 100%). I use them and I've had absolutely no problems for the last 2 years.

They include web parking, web forwards, aliasing, mail forwarding, etc. And if you don't want to use one of their things you can always use something else (you can change your mail server, etc. instead of using their mail forwarding)

BTW, if you do sign up with them you will be asked for your e-mail address. Since its a free service, my guess is they make money via junkmail so give them a temporary mail address to get your username and password.

I don't believe any of the junkmail I receive is from them, but just incase ^^

Zoneedit sounds great - almost too good.

And... i dont really care about junkmail anymore. few mails/day more or less dont really matter. (i think that actually my mail provider is even sending me junk, so...)

Zoneedit is only free for the first 5 domains, but I only own 4 so not a problem for me yet ^^

Anyone know of a free host that allows off site linking of images?
