Fortran CGI

Posted by vladimir_l [send private reply] at November 14, 2002, 05:24:21 PM

I is in need of Fortran CGI library. Does anyone , by any chance , have any experience with using CGI to invoke Fortran.

I am using Salford Fortran under Microsoft Windows NT 4.

Anyone?

Sorry, I just a Fortran neophyte and have just learned the basics... Search Google, maybe??

Off topic, but have you used the VCF GUI Generator??

Can't you just print your output to stdout? The app invoking the CGI's should have redirected your CGI's stdout to itself... (that's the way I thought it worked)

CViper is correct.

vladimir_l, if you go off and learn how cgi works you will discover that you don't need a CGI library. You just read stuff from the environment (and maybe stdin; I'm not sure) and print your output on stdout.

I know i dont need a library :-) , but the actual factor is the QUERY_STRING doesnt do anything for some heck of a reason.

It would be good for on the fly interpretation , but as far as i remember the fortran world there are no fortran interpreters out there :-(. I'll have to go back to using Microsoft Fortran Powerstation 4.00 ( Microsoft Kicks severe arse with that program , for once ).

I hate Salford ... hmm everything thats made in the UK is crapp ...

this is an uselessly long post.

I remember I read somewhere that code posted shouldn't be any longer than x lines...

But I can't where I read that.

So I'll have to shut myself.

buzgub: I think you get variables sent with GET from the environment and POST data from stdin (has been a while since I looked into CGI's the last time)

yeah env() for POST ENV(QUERY_STRING,QS) assigns it to QS.

I did search Google.co.uk 1st thing before going to TPU. I have used some Watcom tools a few years back and the tools I use not are Clearwin+ from Salford. I have a stolen Version of Salford Fortran 95/C++ Enterprise Edition which i stole (copied). The clearwin+ comes with it. As productivity depends on it i am most proabably moving to Digital Compaq Fortran 95 in some time , it uses the MSVisual Studio IDE and it should be good. Anyhow i wont be able to access TPU for the next 6 or 9 weeks as i am having a new computer installed and this one is already sold ( stupidety , but very strange i am getting a real UNIX - SPARC workstation from this scottish dealer ).

To remind everyone of the funny reason that vlad lost his password, he originally entered a valid e-mail address, but later responded to our criticism of his bad attitude by changing every field of his profile (including e-mail address) to "RAT" and posting a message IN ALL CAPS saying he was never coming here again. I guess some people just don't have the level of personal integrity they like to attribute to themselves.

v.luoukianov at gmx.net this is his e-mail on profile 1
v.lukyanov at gmx.net this is his e-mail on profile 2

Could he have misspelled it on purpose to stay clear of e-mails from people here (who from what i've seen do not particularly like him).I suppose Fortran makes you feel like that, thats why i'm going to stick with C and perhaps learn SML...
