TPU downness

Posted by DragonWolf [send private reply] at November 15, 2002, 07:13:40 AM

Did TPU go down for a while? Cause I havn't been able to access it from work or from home for the last couple of weeks.. Or was it due to the change in hardware.

Curously, where is the TPU host stored? In a co-location place?

I believe the CPU, motherboard and memory were being troublesome.

The box is currently stored at Mike_L's place of employment, I believe. It's there until The Server Cabal decide that it works again and sends it back to rackmy (the colocation facility)

No problem with the memory. We got a new motherboard, slower (cooler) CPU, and fan.

DragonWolf, I take it you're not on the mailing list, since I sent a message about this 2 days ago. You can follow the link in the sidebar to sign up.

hmm.. I was sure I was on the mailing list. I'll change the e-mail address it gets sent to since one of my e-mails is a really slow web mail service.

ALSO, when I click on the TPU logo in the top left it makes me log in again. If I remember correctly it didn't use to do this. (I have lowest security settings and accept all cookies enabled)

?? is it me or is rackmy's deals on rack space REALLY cheap!!! Maybe its just the UK ones that are f*cking expensive.

Where does rackmy.com keep its cabinets?

wrt your bug report, are you using framed or standard browsing? It's not happening for me.

Posted by DragonWolf [send private reply] at November 15, 2002, 07:30:09 AM

standard (the frames kept pissing me off)

Posted by DragonWolf [send private reply] at November 15, 2002, 07:31:09 AM

write my bug report? why? Its only a small bug I find every now and then.

I'm not really sure why this happens. If you can make it happen again, then you might like to jump through to some random other internal page from the page with the login prompt. Does this get you to a logged-in state again?

Don't expect me to respond soon if you reply.

Rackmy is in Chicago, I believe.

ahh.. figure it out. Stupid company cache was cacheing the page. I hate caches.

erm.. Excuse my lack in geography of the US, but where is Chicago? Is it near the coast and is it east, west, north, south?

Sort of north-east.

hmm.. Might consider changing my co-location provider then ^^ They do a good job?

RackMy is in St. Louis, Missouri. That is in the center of the US, and a little to the east. The server is currently in Chicago. Chicago is in the north of the US, and a little east.

RackMy does a good job. Their website is at www.rackmy.com.
