im sorry.. I would like to create a custom Logon/Logoff screen for windows ME... i have seen some programs offered for only windows XP/98 ---> www.wincustomize.com... for those that are interested...

I think most of what will work with 98 should work with ME, being they are like brothers.
Get TweakUI from Microsoft, its a free download [suprise!] I think there is also something else, like X Config or X Setup [That might not be the name, but it's for Windows and ofers more customization than TweakUI]. I think Window Blinds lets you change the bootup screen, but theres another one like it thats free.

The bootup and shutdown screens are just bmp files... I think they have a bit of Alpha values too for that animated strip across the bottom.
Also I think you have to change one of the hex values once you have made it.. Not that this helps you in any way whatsoever ^^

look for logo.sys, logow.sys and logos.sys. They're alll bitmaps, and probably hidden.

The boot-up and shutdown screens are bitmaps (named *.sys), but they can also be edited as .gif's. Windows rotates one of the rows in the pallet (I think when viewing it 16x16). This website has more information http://www.virtual-hideout.net/guides/windows_logo_mod/ (sorry about all the ads, but the site has good info)

LMAO, I've stripped 98se down to just under 50mb before, I am the master of tweaking, I speant hours deleting every unnecesary registry entry by hand, unfortunately it is slightly more dificult with XP...

Umm alot of what u are discussing can be done in the registry editor ,but i wouldnt advise messing with it inless u know what youre doing and have backed it up, onto a disk or somit. Anyhow to edit the logo check this link i found http://www.macsounduk.com/me_tips.html or http://www.thetechguide.com/howto/xpbootlogo/

Dont mess with the registry kids (who would say this ?). Anyhow registry editing is dangerous - instead use SunOS.

its not a hello world program classed as an operating system,it's actualy an OS, dependant of everything so more like an operating system classed as a hello world program!

Dont forget Desktop Architect!!! DO NOT GO ON http://www.desktoparchitect.com - i've had heterosexual pornographic banners on that.

Use Tucows.com or Download.com to find it!
