ISP question

Posted by tdkyo [send private reply] at December 24, 2002, 10:48:06 PM

I am just wondering, what ISP <DSL or Cable> allows to host your own personal webserver? My ISP<Frontiernet.net> finally says that I can run my server for personal use. Does any other ISP allows personal servers?

I presume you are asking about a specific country?

don't ask.
if they find out and don't like it, ./www/bin/apachectl stop
and then pretend your some old lady who doesn't understand what they are accusing you of.

If they disallow you from using port 80, then start the server on something like 8080 and thats all..

I just run my HTTP server on port 83 on OptOnline, they don't care (it's against their AUP) and I doubt your ISP will care either unless you get a lot of traffic.
