Posted by jamieshim [send private reply] at December 29, 2002, 05:22:52 PM
I want to do a website project...I am open to almost anything...here's 2 things I'm interested in, but whatever's fine.
1) http://vextreme.tk (Go to it and see what you think of it...keep adding on? It's a fansite for www.virtumon.com) 2) Ever heard of Neopets? Create a Guild directory...? E-mail me if you're interested...jamie13shim@Hotmail.com Thanks

Third time lucky? I don't think so.

Jamie, why not learn how to do these kinda things? People here would be more than glad to help you [as in helping you learn], but they aren't willing to do it for you.

yes, definitly learn how this works. The signup/registration thing I wrote for you was quite simple. It shouldn't take much time.

Actually, the site that was mentioned is quite good. I would think if Shim was able to create a site of that stature as well as forums to accompany it, then I think doing the tasks desired would not be of a large difficulty to Shim.

I did try to learn...I read dozens of tutorials and downloaded Apache and everything...but it's so complicating.
I guess I'll give it another shot...but I don't know how to test the scripts. I wrote the script in an editor, but I uploaded it to Apache...but it doesn't show up? And I don't have a server...I get so confused.

Hmm, confusion is a part of learning. There has been many a times I have been quite confused by tutorials and books.
The best thing to do when confused, is to post some where explaining the problem/question while attempting to figure it out yourself. [Eh, that's what I do]

I'm re-downloading Apache and starting all over with that...
Do you think I should just learn how to do a Login/Registration script or learn PHP from the beginning?

Hmm, well, if you plan on doing quite a bit of web programming, and web design, then probly learning PHP would be best. But, if you just need a few scripts, then just learning those should be suffecient.
