Great new site to check out...

Posted by TheTutor [send private reply] at July 18, 2001, 02:02:32 AM

Hey I'm one of the guys (DigiBen is the other) running the site www.GameTutorials.com -- This site deals with teaching programming from a beginner (that's absolutely NO prior experience) to advanced topics (OpenGL for instance) and everything in-between. We're a new site, been around for only a month, and have plenty of "stuff" coming. Hope to see ya soon :)

Posted by toran [send private reply] at July 18, 2001, 02:06:53 AM

Wow! You guys got to check this site out! There isn't ANYTHING that is missing from this site. I have been looking for a site like this for a LONG time. If you are interested in learning about game programming and talking with thousands of people on a really beautiful looking message board, you have to come here! The tutorials just can't be beat. Finally, there is a site that actually teaches this stuff, not a big source code database.

www.GameTutorials.com is incredible.

Hmmmm, does this look like a shameless, poorly disguised plug to anyone else?

I'd have been fine if they hadn't put in that second "guy off the street" post. :-) TheTutor, submit this as a link from the front page and it will be a lot more visible.

If you guys are out on a hot day, try the new "Freeze" Gatorade. It quenches even the most horrible thirts. Be sure sure to stop by your local quicky mart and get yourself a case. You won't be let down!

www.gatorade.com is incredible!

that doesn't fool us...

hey TheTutor... i hope you realise that by pulling a silly stunt like that.. you're most likely goign to have LESS people coming to your site... as people think that a person trying to OVERpublisize their site, then the site must not have many people there, and in turn they think, if they have to go that low, they must not have a very good site... but yeah, like Psion said, post that link up front.

Nobody enjoys a good joke???

First off, I didn't post the "toran" comments (though I think I have a good idea who did)

Second off, this site at a glance looks like it for BEGINNER programmers, even though most of your posts are well beyond beginner material. Anyway, if you are looking for the BEST beginner and intermediate tutorials for C, C++ and Win32 on the Internet, www.GameTutorials.com is the place to go --

We also have plenty of stuff for the advanced (or who think they are advanced) as well --

But I really like the intent of this site -- We're all about TEACHING, not just free source code, and it looks like the people that come here want to learn --

Happy coding :)

Oh yeah, I did submit the link -- looks like it got put up --

Thanks :)

Where's schizochimp? He could really add to this thread.

The emu nation demands retribution. They will not tolerate the demands of facist american pigs who clickity-clack on their punch boards all day re-inventing wheels over and over and over, and still getting paid to do so.

VIVA LA EMU!

i believe we've already delved into the psychotic aspects of SchizoChimp's posts.....that's all I'm prepared to say.

David loses 100 points for chosing a "random" animal that is in fact easily in the top 10 list of "funny" animals chosen.

Posted by sphinX [send private reply] at July 24, 2001, 06:27:03 AM

does the walrus place? how about the squirrel?

Posted by SchizoChimp [send private reply] at July 28, 2001, 01:35:10 PM

How do you know I wasn't talking about the emulation community? Why would an emu(animal) care about facists? YOU ARE JUST BEING ABSURD NOW.

Posted by RedX [send private reply] at July 31, 2001, 12:39:39 PM

SchizoChimp does not exist. He only wants us to believe so. If we all refuse to believe his existence he'll disappear and return to his own reallity.

Well, CHollman, it's like this.

Some people need money. So, they provide a service! People pay for this service, and that generates money for 'Some People'. Maybe you would prefer it was $10? But then, they wouldn't make as much money. So, you see, it all works out! If they give the tutorials away for free, they don't get their money. And that makes them sad. And they throw themselves off of buildings, etc etc. Do you want to make them die, CHollman82?

Posted by RedX [send private reply] at August 01, 2001, 04:53:17 PM

Why isn't there a single person on this planet smart enough to invent a way to pay on the web, that's actually fun (as fun as paying can be) to use instead of a burocratic torture. And why does every person who make a online shop believe that because in the US everybody is born with a credit card, everybody on the whole planet has one. I don't have one. As a result I can't buy anything online. Unless I send them a check and pray that the person receiving, the postmen and every other person involved would be onest.

Okay CHollman82 -- We never wanted to charge, but like Iordaerom eluded too, Web Sites cost money -- But gameDev is hosting us now, so web costs are no longer a problem, thus all the tutorials are FREE

Enjoy :)
