Ideas for dates?

Posted by Mike_L [send private reply] at March 03, 2003, 06:57:34 PM

Anyone have any interesting suggestions for dates? I'm going to start with the obvious ones:

* Dinner at a restaurant
* Movie theater
* Concert
* Bowling
* Ice skating
* Eating grapefruit

A few years ago my brother and his friends made a fun date for their girlfriends. They rented a Ryder truck, the kind you use to move all your stuff to a new house. Anyway they set up the back of it like their childhood rooms... carpet, bean bags, Legos, teddy bears, etc. I don't remember the details anymore, but the girls all thought it was incredibly creative of them. =)

Specifically I'm trying to think of low cost activities. Double/group date ideas are good too.

Dinner and a movie is always good, I just did that last night, though I go all out, can you say 14 ounce New York strip steak, yummmm. I'm more relaxed when I am eating really good food. Then we went back to her dorm and used the net for a while, then watched some aqua teen hunger force, the rest is censored ;)

I can't say I have any exp in this area...but some ideas:

*Shopping Trip [Ya, you don't have to pay for the items, just follow her around, get doors, smile, and hold bags...maybe even hit the mall arcade and have a go at DDR] (^_^)

*Some kinda outing to a lake/park and maybe some kinda picknick [this one depends what kinda girl though]

*Amtrack Train Ride [A little too expensive for a weekly type of date, but something fun and different for most {suburbian/rual} Americans]

*CLUBBING!!!

*Martial Arts/Yoga/Capoeira type class together

*The ZOO (^o^) [As good as a pet store, !BUT! better b/c you CAN'T buy the animals!]

Okee, yeah, some of my ideas probly sound a bit odd or stupid...but chances are you'll be so drunk with love you won't know the difference. (^_^)

There are many other ways to find and express happiness.

BUT I'd say any environment where she can *talk* is best. Thus no movies. No concert.

I don't like the idea of dating where one is silent for an hour and a half unless it's to the point she is leaning her head on your shoulder. Then that would determine that a level of intimacy has been reached.

Bye! I know nothing about what I talk about! It's all conjecture! ^_^

Isn't the point to make her shut up?

mop: just say "sure", "oh my", "yes" and "really?" now and then, and she's going to be perfectly happy :D

Watching a movie (maybe even at home - if you're really low on funds) or a dinner are good options. Clubbing is nice too, depends alot on the girl though.

InitI and Qubit,

Great suggestions! I especially like the Zoo idea... it's a place where we can talk. =) Thanks guys!

Anyone have any more real suggestions?

I've always enjoyed walking down by the docks (not the smelly fishy bit of course :P) especially around the yachting areas, but depends where you are.

Sitting on the end of a pontoon looking out over the sea/lake/river is nice.

DragonWolf, great idea. I think we'll have to wait till Spring though. Today it is -6C outside in Chicago. =(
