Port Redirecting

Posted by Brok3n_Link [send private reply] at June 30, 2003, 07:26:07 AM

hi
i just got an ADSL connection (256/64) on a DLink 504 Router. I presently have just this computer and my laptop attached, but i will soon attach a 8-port hub and end up with about 6-7 computers online. ANYWAY: On this computer, i guess you could call it the 'Primary' or Main computer, would like to host the odd Half-Life game (by HL, I mean mods: svencoop, CS, DC, DPB, Natural Selection, etc.). I have an ip of 192.168.0.10, but that is a local IP. as far as i unterstand, the router holds to connection, and therefore the 'external' IP. How can I host a Half-Life game on this computer (port 27015 right?) and have people connect to it? I tried enabling NAT and DMZ with this computer's IP (i havn't tried it with DMZ yet, will soon). a couple of people have told me i need to enable port redirecting. I made a redirection entry in the web-interface for hte router, but that does not work. have tried my ISP, DLink.com and a couple of brief searches wtih go0gle.

If anyone could help em here it would be greatly appreciated.!

You need to look up the ports used by Half Life, and configure your router to forward each of those ports to your PC. You probably need to forward both TCP and UDP traffic.
