Windows XP Upgrading

Posted by buzgub [send private reply] at August 03, 2001, 03:30:10 AM

For windoze users:

If you upgrade to XP, what will be the motivator? For me, I think it would be the fact that it stacks multiple instances of programs up on the task bar. That, and stability.

Well. In my opinion, XP stands for XPensive. And I think the idea of having to call them or register the OS through the net is outrageous. And they might even make u pay a yearly fee in order to keep the os running. OK. I see where there coming from with the scare of ppl giving it to friends and never having to pay. BUT don't they relize they'll lose even more money trying to get ppl to pay after they've forked of 200.00. And that's just for the home version. I think MS is in for a big suprise come October, because not to many ppl will be pleased with this pricing plan. We already have cable bills, telephone bills, ISP bills, etc. Now we need an OS bill. Give me a break.

Buzbug: To answer ur questiong, I don't think there is a motivator. I think XP is just a way of them saying: "We apologize for WinME."

You've got the wrong idea. Just because Microsoft releases a new OS doesn't mean you have to upgrade. I will, just because I happen to like Microsoft products.

"I think XP is just a way of them saying: "We apologize for WinME.""

Have you even used WindowsME?

Setherd: Yes... euuukkkkk...

I have always maintained that when Win2k becomes unsupported Microsoft technology, I will go solely to Linux or BSD of some kind.

They're going to give the corporate, non-phone-home version to residential customers who buy 5 licenses through the appropriate channells, so why not just get a group of five ppl together, and each pay 1/5th of the price. as it is, I'll be switching to linux once wine is in a completed state.

Posted by grandsnafu [send private reply] at August 04, 2001, 02:07:25 AM

TO: Setherd. Well I didn't see the reason y u had to go and mimick what i said. But anyway. Microsoft has excellent products. But they suck as a company.

Posted by Setherd123 [send private reply] at August 08, 2001, 12:41:06 PM

TO: triplec1986. It's usually referred to as quoting not "mimic[king]". Ooo, but the first part wasn't! That WAS mimicking. ^_^ See?

Posted by triplec1986 [send private reply] at August 08, 2001, 12:46:18 PM

Ok Whatever. I don't see y i waste time here on tpu. It seems that most of ur lives r run by a computer. U probably couldn't tell a dog to sit without giving it millions of commands. U r all just a bunch of bragging assholes about ur computers. Heres a tip: Go outside and see things THAT AREN'T DIGITAL!.

To:Psion---- If there is a way for u to possibly erase me from Tpu, please do.

Posted by gian [send private reply] at August 08, 2001, 10:49:59 PM

Lets see who's salary will be bigger :-)

Well, you've been removed... Hmmm, why would someone go and do something like that?

Posted by have_dinner [send private reply] at August 09, 2001, 12:06:36 AM

triplec.... you are not thinking properly here... i mean, why should you be telilng these people whom you don't seem to even know, to be going outside and seeing something that "isn't digital" as you put it??? i think you should take a look at yourself and work out your faults before slamming others for theirs... and another thing... why are you slamming these guys??? without people like this there wouldn't be much of a world today... tell me this.. do you watch TV????

i think you do... so i think you should encourage these guys more than abuse them

Posted by Cobbs [send private reply] at August 09, 2001, 01:32:53 AM

somebody's high strung... disagree with him and he's gone! and besides, triplec1986, my computer is 2^-1 times faster than yours!!! mwuhahahaha

Posted by triplec1986 [send private reply] at August 09, 2001, 01:48:26 PM

PPl like u make me not want to be a programmer. And it's not just u guys, it's just the fact that i see lots of kids in my school that aren't very social. Maybe I'm steoro typing u all. If i am well then i'm sorry. I'll try to like tpu all though it's taking all my energy.

Posted by have_dinner [send private reply] at August 09, 2001, 06:27:45 PM

if it's that hard for you to like us triplec... why do you bother??
maybe if you don't like us then you're in the wrong place... but we're not forcing you to become like us in any way, shape or form... and the anti-social bit... if we're so anti-social, what the hell are you doing on here!???

Posted by triplec1986 [send private reply] at August 14, 2001, 08:25:34 AM

Well, to be honest, it seems that when i read some of the threads on the message board, most of you come off as smart-asses. I'm not saying that it's wrong to be smart, what i'm saying is u can express in a different way. And alot of ppl that r like thatseem to not have friends, and i just don't see them as "a ppl person" so excuse me if i used bad judgement.

Posted by have_dinner [send private reply] at August 14, 2001, 08:58:19 PM

taht didn't answer my question... answer this:
if it's that hard for you to like us triplec... why do you bother??

Posted by Cobbs [send private reply] at August 14, 2001, 09:19:53 PM

Triplec, if you're gonna keep whining, just go away. Go do something 'not digital'.

Posted by triplec1986 [send private reply] at August 15, 2001, 12:17:11 PM

I have know idea. Maybe because my love for programming is bigger than U ALL!!!!

Posted by have_dinner [send private reply] at August 15, 2001, 08:57:01 PM

but wait a minute... i thought you despised us guys? and we spend too much time infront of the computer or something... maybe take a look at yourself before giving us shit

Posted by gian [send private reply] at August 15, 2001, 10:50:27 PM

Good point... and I thought I deleted your account too....

Posted by Cobbs [send private reply] at August 16, 2001, 12:51:07 AM

triplec1986 can't be a hypocrite... he must program outside with his analog computer! that explains it!

Posted by have_dinner [send private reply] at August 16, 2001, 12:55:03 AM

Posted by Cobbs [send private reply] at August 16, 2001, 06:22:05 PM

Posted by triplec1986 [send private reply] at August 20, 2001, 02:37:49 PM

Well, Gian, u thought wrong because obviously I'm posting messages. So maybe u need to do it over again. I hope the code red virus destroys TPU. Better yet, I'll spend some time trying to destroy TPU. I guess programming has it's good side AND it's bad side. <laughs>

Posted by infryq [send private reply] at August 20, 2001, 04:25:34 PM

/me laughts at triplec1986
hack TPU? are you mad?

Let me reiterate what many have said before -- if you hate it here so much, *leave*

No, we don't want him to go :(

Posted by gian [send private reply] at August 23, 2001, 04:08:36 PM
