Small problem with Windows

Posted by brandon6684 [send private reply] at August 20, 2001, 07:36:40 PM

I guess my subject isn't very useful since problems are somewhat of a given with windows, but I have a somewhat semi-severve problem. When I had my program running as a dual boot system with Linux and Windows, I installed LILO in the MBR. I took it out with the fdisk /mbr command in the dos prompt, but that aparently didn't work. Now in windows is says that the MBR has been alterered by another program or that I have a virus. I don't think I have a virus, althought that is a slight possibility. While windows still technically works, all drivers are running in DOS mode, and this slows down my computer quite a bit, and I have a lot of trouble running games that require directx, or any other games heavy on graphics or that require semi modern drivers. The little fdisk /mbr command is supposed to fix this, but it hasn't. If you have any ideas for me please contact me somehow, perferably contact me more directly that this board since sometimes I'm a bit short on time and just check my e-mail.

That's what I thought, I guess I'll just use dos mode drivers until i get my own new computer, and then let my mom worry about it.
