http://www.exyon.com/ is a jungle of broken images!

yes, lots of cool little boxes with red x's :-)

I didn't know that "hurtles" was a word. It would also appear the I am supposed to have a RYAN folder on my c: drive... there's no chance of that if I'm on a unix, is there.

I hope their web page isn't meant to be an example of "software you can use", as the form tag appears to have absented itself. This mob appear to have great things in store for them. At least, great bankruptcies(sp?), even if nothing else.

We were having problems with our server earlier today, and apologize for any inconvenience. If you did not have the chance to visit the site since the problem has been fixed, please take the time to visit it now.

I can't seem to do anything without "signing up." I don't really know what I'd be signing up for. So that I can see what is worth signing up to see?

Posted by sphinX [send private reply] at December 04, 2001, 07:20:45 PM

heh....links without <a> tags, this is fun:
New User?<BR>&nbsp;</FONT><FONT face=Arial size=1>Sign-up here.</FONT>

Is anyone noticing the lack of a link there? :-)

Posted by Van_Winkle [send private reply] at December 04, 2001, 07:39:01 PM

You donıt need to sign up for anything! All you need to do is to check the project postings and apply for projects that you would like to program for. Then the projects director will contact you and discuss what you will need to do. After your coding is done you send it to us at Exyon, we do the final touches, and then distribute it. You just sit back and wait for your check in the mail. So if you would like more information write to: humanresources@exyon.com

I'll take your word for it. I see no links anywhere on the page, and not really any info, either. The only thing that would seem to lead to anything is one form, which requires being signed up.

Posted by eternaldisciple [send private reply] at December 04, 2001, 08:27:26 PM

I can't use anything of theirs I've seen so far. Nice tantalizing pictures though. I'd sign up, but forms scare me.

Posted by buzgub [send private reply] at December 05, 2001, 12:19:18 AM

Form? What form? there's a few text boxes and buttons, but I don't think there's any form.

Mozilla fails to render any pictures. Perhaps not using backslashes would be a good start?

While we are ripping it to shreds...

and Apache on Win32? Apart from development purposes, there is NO excuse to not have a Unix server...

Sorry, I had to override the (non-existant) character encoding and DTD...

Try that.

Form for me being anything requiring the input of information.

If you have not noticed before, Exyon.com is not completely active, hence the paragraph on the main page. Also, Exyon is not a service for programmers but is a business, we write and distribute software for the North American and International markets. The purpose of this posting was to advertise the many job openings at Exyon. If you have been to ignorant to notice in the past, the only way to require information on these jobs openings is to write to: humanresources@exyon.com

Please note that some of these response postings do not reflect the most brilliant people, and if you would like to get a job programming and making great cash, I suggest that you stop making these ignorant posts and follow the instructions.

Thank You,

If you haven't noticed, advertising a page that is under construction doesn't do good for your business. (And you call us ignorant? On our boards?)

Posted by Van_Winkle [send private reply] at December 05, 2001, 04:12:24 PM

I wish not to degrade myself to your level but I feel that once in awhile one must humiliate himself. If you have read and understood my previous postings you would of realized that this is not a marketing scheme for Exyon, but is something quite the contrary. I shall quote from my most recent post; ıThe purpose of this posting was to advertise the many job openings at Exyonı. I hope that this is not difficult for someone of your intellect to understand; but there is a very large difference between marketing a business and advertising job opportunities.

Advertising job opportunities before the business is not fully on-line does make a lot of sense. Without enough employees to do the work there will be no work being done, and without work there will be no product and hence no business. I feel that this forumıs purpose has changed from one of offering job opportunities to more of a challenge of the intellects, and I apologize for this.

There are many programming projects both from Exyon and from third parties that need more than the current number of programmers working on them, so, once more if you would like more information on the job opportunities please write to: humanresources@exyon.com

Thank you,

"make up to %10"
So if might end up getting paid %0.1?

"making great cash"
How do you know we'll be making great cash if it's not really started?

"I hope that this is not difficult for someone of your intellect to understand; but there is a very large difference between marketing a business and advertising job opportunities."

Obviously your intellect is no greater than mine, since you failed to read my post properly. I did not say that you were marketing a business, nor did I saw you were advertising job opportunities. I said advertising a web page, meaning telling people to visit a particular site. What I meant was that linking us to a page that was under construction gives us a bad image of your company, and so would dissuade anyone who is interested in working for you from taking you seriously.

Don't call me ignorant. I'm not. Neither are you. Except for assuming that other people are ignorant.

First I would like to say, that you will never make less than %5 of a projects net-income for programming. And since you already program for fun, why not program for fun and make some money when your project is done and distributed. You lose nothing for programming, you can only gain! If you are interested please write to: humanresources@exyon.com

Regarding the postıs buy one: ıtaubzı I suggest you look at what my original and all my follow up posts say. Not one post tells you to go to www.exyon.com. Hence I never even suggested that anyone should visit the site. Repeatedly I stressed that the only way to gain more information was to e-mail human resources. I also never did call anyone in her ignorant.

Thank You,

I think it would be reasonable for someone to want to find out information about your company and see that it is legit before committing in any way, like giving you his e-mail address.

Posted by buzgub [send private reply] at December 05, 2001, 07:46:28 PM

Might I remind you that you said " these ignorant posts".

You did call people in here ignorant.

Regarding the issue of the website, savvy people (like Psion) will tend to try to find out more about something before e-mailing any given address. Posting in a forum full of tech-savvy people, you really should expect that the site would be visited. You never suggested that the site be visited explicitly, but in providing that domain name in a place like this there was an implied invitation to visit.

sorry about the overlap there... I had lunch between starting and finishing the post, giving Psion time to post. aaaargh.

sorry.
