Posted by drew [send private reply] at December 12, 2001, 02:11:40 PM i have a computer that has foolproof on it and i can not run any of the programs in the windows folder. i can only put files on the computer. does anyone know or have any ideas on how to disable it?
Posted by CodeRed [send private reply] at December 12, 2001, 02:20:45 PM I would recommend (optionally) backing your stuff up on a cd or another HDD. Then format and reinstall windows.
Posted by drew [send private reply] at December 12, 2001, 02:47:18 PM how can i format the c drive if i cant get to the command prompt or select it under properites?
Posted by eternaldisciple [send private reply] at December 12, 2001, 04:33:14 PM I heard you can create a shortcut to C: and that will sometimes bypass some security stuff. Never tried it because...I never needed to. But you might. *shrug*

Use a single floppy disk linux distro to boot into linux, and mount your C: drive, and delete C:\SSS (I think that's where foolproof hangs out), and that will prevent it from starting when Windows does

So he probably cant use a boot disk, however if its an AWARD bios, a password of AWARD_SW will work on most except the most recent versions.
