I need a copy of the visual basic 5.0 compiler (NOT cce). Does anyone have one that they can send to me?

No piracy. You are bad.

Yeah, and let me tell you right away, that you'll benefit a LOT from learning C/C++. It's not at all hard (I used VB when I first joined TPU, now I'm porting my major projects to C).

And there are quite good compilers for C under windows, which are free.
Try LCC. Good compiler, good IDE, But lacks some of the C++ features since it's a C compiler with a few add's. But it's IDE is very good. So unless you're planning to spend money on Visual C++, this is the best choice. (Unless someone knows a better one.) RedX

Nopez, I personally use LCC when programming for Windows (or web)... For DOS programming, though, I use DJGPP, another great compiler, but designed for DOS.

You have the borland c++ 5.5 compiler available for free download. its really great. You could use PFE - Programmer's File Editor as an IDE. Its really cool.
For VB Programmers, i think Java is really cool. Try learning Java, then. The JDK is available for free download from java.sun.com

Yes, as VB and java have so much in common =]

I don't think VB and Java have much in common. Java is a full featured Object Oriented Language while VB has just an OO extension.
Real OO Programming needs stuff like polymorphism, inheritance and encapsulation. VB doesn't have this. But if you know VB you may find Java easy to learn. That is all.

VB tried to do polymorphism with its Implements keyword which has something to do with COM... it works fairly well. Definitely no inheritance, but there is encapsulation to some extent....

Well, wait 'till I finish up the compiler for ACORDIC, then you can have some REAL fun programming

Python is the only programming language that I mind messing with nowadays. Sometimes I believe it's the only programming language that anyone should mess with.
I must leave now. Eat your carrots.

Setherd is a hardened hacker, and his wisdom counts for a lot. The sheer number of mission critical tools he's developed boggles the mind. He even wrote an operating system on the back of an envelope.

True, very true.

Yes, I would trust Setherd's skills... BTW. Seth, when can we see an X font server for that envelope os?
