Do you have knowledge of c/c++ programming?
Can you use DarkBasic?
If so we want you to join our growing group of game programmers to create a 1st Person 3D shoot em up game. A share of profits is given to all who contribute

Let me just say, vladimir, that those posts make absolutely no sense whatsoever.

That's it. Later.

The mention of DarkBasic should be banned from these forums!
Hi, I haven't checked these forums for a while, heeh.

DarkBasic is really not a programming language... it is more like a very poor wrapper for DirectX, without the power of C... I think it simply encourages laziness amoung young programmers, and is not even worth a look.

I agree Visual Basic , all clones of BASIC fall into that category , they are like a drug, you have to learn to come off them. I must admit ,m yself I still use them , sometimes. They are a good 'start' to programming , but you must keep progressing to 'better' languages such as C and Fortran.

Basic is a stepping stone though... any illusions that people have about the power of basic are quickly dissolved when they try and make that killer app... Dark Basic on the other hand, is marketed as though all of todays top games are made using it, and that nothing else is worth using etc. It makes out that there are no other options....

So DARK BASIC is a highly specialised planguage , for games only , some people thats the best area to start programming. Pehaps , but people don't learn the Basics and go straight into programming ... The best language to learn the Basics has to be Quick C.

PS How does Dark Basic work , why do people use it , just beacuse of its popularity.

It's not suitable for games though... How are you supposed to do gameplay elements without very basic file i/o methods?!? It is suitable for 3d graphics... in which case MaxScript would do just as well (and better)....
