Doin' stuff

So the summer is appearing, the classic era of free time for teenagers. I think it would be good to have an IRC meeting soon, with as much attendance as possible, to discuss where TPU is going in the future. It also occurred to me that it might also be a good idea to have a general TPU mailing list. I think everything that is done should be done with the goal of creating communication between members. Any thoughts?

Well, first regarding the IRC meeting. Because TPU members are spread all across the globe it may be easier, and result in more attendence, if you held 2 meetings, perhaps 12 hours apart or something close to. Thus it gives people the opertunity to attend the meeting that's best suited around their time schedual/zone.

Second the mailing list is a good idea, though perhaps you'd want more than just one. Maybe one that has 'priority' messages, others for planning, etc.

IRC meetings have worked quite well in the past. The only people with a big enough lag to not fit into a well-planned time for the rest of the world are those Oceanians (who perhaps had little to no internet access back in '96), and maybe some Asian members of whose existence I have yet to learn. :-)

I don't see the distinction you've made between 'priority' and planning. I would think the mailing list would only have "announcement" type things, and discussions would be on this site.

Also, don't say "if you..." This is a team effort! No hierarchical power structures here, except that gian has to mop the floors.

* Gian mops the floor with Psion (Ohhhhh, only the oceanians!)

Beats me. I'm a bit busy right now settling into a summer job.
