Should I get Suse or Red Hat?

I recommend Mandrake for starters, it is simple and easy to install and has all the good stuff in the other distros. But between the two I would say Red Hat, over the past year SuSE has dwindled. Red Hat is an industrial strength OS with good backing of support and a good community. Currently it is the number 1 distro, closely tied to Mandrake. Also it is pretty stable, the software is a little old by a few months compared to the other distros because they do more testing since they are more server and business oriented.

RedHat all the way... it has a huge support base, and has been designed with ease of use in mind.

Red Hat's bootloader is nicer, but as for the rest of the system, I'd recommend Mandrake.
