ICQ ActiveList?

Posted by Psion [send private reply] at June 07, 2001, 07:33:12 PM

How about having a TPU ICQ ActiveList? This is a feature of everyone's favorite original Internet instant messaging program (see www.icq.com) that lets you store a shared contact list so that users can join and instantly see everyone who is in the list. Unfortunately, it requires running a separate server. Even more unfortunately, Mirabilis only has this server software available for Windows. Does anyone either know of an ActiveList server for Linux or run a Windows server and have willingness to host this?

I think that IRC is enough. Having 30,000 windows open, all using your internet connection is a bit excessive, methinks.

ICQ is junk. It's good if you're a Sado-Masochist who likes to open wide the doors of malicious cracking.

You're probably just jealous because you don't have a 6-digit UIN.

P.S.: It's probably obvious to everyone that this idea has been abandoned by now. :-)
