Computer Aided Software Engineering.

Does anyone on this forum have experience writing CASE tools? I need advice on writing a CASE tool for my college project, regarding the various viable projects in CASE ( or in Software Engineering as general).

Further, I would be pleased if anyone can help me in Whitebox and Blackbox testing techniques.

thanx in advance.

I'll fall over backwards in surprise if you get any help on that here.

How the hell do you engineer software without the aid of computers?

I think he meant the computer writing code for you.

CASE tools are programs like flowchart drawing programs, compilers, debuggers, profilers and much more. They help designing a program end-to-end and are involved in requirements analysis, architecture, detailed design, coding, debugging, unit testing, system testing and maintenance.
The book "Code Complete" (ISBN: 1-55615-484-4), while mainly focussing on coding, can get you some ideas.

Codered, Software Engineering doesnt directly deal with Writing Computer Code. On the Contrary , it focuses on what type of development schedule that should be used (depending on the time left to complete the software ) , Algorithms, Operating System to be used ,Type of testing to be done and the sorts. ( A heck of a lot more..... ).

Traditionally it was done by Software Engineers and now computers are being used to supplement the software Engineers in their jobs. This is called Computer Aided Software Engineering.
