ATTN: Lazy people who want to do themselves a diservice by avoiding C++

Well, lets replace 'lazy people' with 'people who know no language'

So.... learn a language. See the Quickstart guide on the main page of TPU to get started! (and give us feedback on the guide if it's not helpful enough)

(switching into angry BEDGE mode):
DARK BASIC IS NOT A LANGUAGE!!!!!! IT IS AN INFERIOR PIECE OF CRAP DESIGNED TO MAKE PEOPLE WHO CAN'T PROGRAM FEEL SPECIAL! IT IS ABOUT AS USEFUL AS YOUR AVERAGE PAINT PROGRAM! IT IS NOT A PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE, SO WHAT IS IT DOING ON TPU?!?!?!!

and it even (with someone who can program) does'nt give good results it's at about Direct X 4.0 level, Snigger

Exactly what I told my friend, but he thinks I'm wrong even though he's never programmed in anything (I've been doing c++ for a few years)

Geez, I never said it was great, just a quick way to get started with game programming.

But you thought it was great. You're going to pay for this, rest assured.

When will people learn? DarkBASIC is not a replacement for C++. It's a simple alternative geared towards non-programmers who want to create marginal quality games. It shouldn't be used as a gateway to those wanting to become professional programmers, as it enforces bad programming practices. But for those who have a simple game idea they'd like to see come to light, it's just fine. Really, people shouldn't get into debates about C++ vs DarkBASIC. They're two very different things, and were both made with different purposes in mind. For hobbiests, DarkBASIC is just fine, but if you're looking to break ground (or at least score a job in the industry), I suggest you check out C++.

You know what the funny thing is... I learned how to program C through learning PHP (/me dodges smacks and boots ) I am serious, A year ago I did not understand any real programming concepts (that did not stop me though) and then I started to play with PHP for a while, getting to know it really well (I will allow you to smack me for that) and then I picked up C++ in 21days and found it extremely simple.

I have no idea what Dark Basic is though, other than it is evil.

C++ in 21 days is book... not the times span it took (Knowing english might come in handy sometime in the future :p).

Simply put, DarkBASIC is a toy. C or C++ is a tool for people who are serious about programming.
