OLD BROWSERS GALORE

Posted by vladimir_l [send private reply] at December 28, 2001, 04:29:35 PM

If anyone is looking for a good browser website , i've found one , catering for Mosaic (Netscape not NSCA) 0.4 and many more old browsers , I think this site is a real gem on the net.

Backslashes are invalid in URL's

Um... why would you want an older browser? I have no idea if I am right on this, but isn't that browser from BEFORE W3C standards? I personally find that scary..

Why doesn't everyone just use Opera?

Posted by gian [send private reply] at December 30, 2001, 02:50:18 AM

Because: Opera doesn't support CSS 1 properly, doesn't do javascript properly, and doesn't allow plugins to be written easily.

We should all use Mozilla.

Gian: I concur. Then we can all have our TPU tab, too!

Posted by gian [send private reply] at December 30, 2001, 02:37:24 PM

Indeed.... I'm in the process of making my own tab that will tell me if I have new mail or not...

Make it always display "You have new mail" in big, bold letters, so you can feel good about yourself.

Big Bold FRIENDLY letters...

Maybe also put Don't Panic when you do not have mail ^_^

AND I USE CAPS LOCK BECAUSE WHEN YOU MAKE PROGRAMS IN FORTRAN(OR ANY OTHER LANGUAGE ) IT'S MUCH EASIER TO HAVE UPPERCASE !AND I FORGET TO SWITCH SOMETIMES..

Posted by gian [send private reply] at January 13, 2002, 04:03:52 PM

I'm sure your mistaking "ANY OTHER LANGUAGE" for "Basic and fortran"...

Posted by vladimir_l [send private reply] at January 14, 2002, 12:04:34 PM

I dont know about basic ( its a bit too basic ) , I only use Fortran , but currently I am having ideas of using Fortran made dll's with VB. Fortran does not offer the creation of stable windows applications , except ClearWin that is , nice little application ClearWin is.

* gian recoils in fright of a scheme so foolish...

Try and get a copy of Borland C++ Builder... it creates *stable* fast C++ windows applications in much the same way the VB does, except minus the basic... it's an excellent way to learn C, because the responsibility for all the windows specific code is done by Borland...

I have it , I know C++ a bit , but it does not suit my needes as it is not stable with maths programs. I must agree that creating applications in it for windopws is easy , very easy and its own contorls are good.VB is not stable I know , but I dont plan to make aything that can brake in it !Only the outside code , I will have a look at my dusty Borland again..Currently I am not a fan of VB myself , its slow and irrisponisbly breakful...Thats why I use Fortran , its like a block of steel !

None of these languages are inherently unstable. It all depends on the ability of the coder.

yOU are right Psion , but VB , is not always dependent on the ability of the coder , there have been many erros in VB 6.0 , I've had to update my Visual Studio about 5 times and one update is bigger than the next !! And I only said one language was unstable VB , Fortran is almost impsssible to make unstable and C++ does depend on the ability of the coder.
