Good AI help

I really just can't get AI I mean I can program it but I just can't fathom how to do more complex things

Basically, in a controlled way, (as Buzgub and I were laughing about over MSN) you need your program to calculate the possibility, like in a tic tac toe game, you might calculate each free square's "winning" ability. Of course, on a large board, that becomes massive amounts of calculations per game (like in the trillions) :-)

Trees are basically one step up from that.... The outcome of this is this, and the outcome of that is this.

Did you delete my post gian?

Have you tried gamedev.net's AI referrence section? http://www.gamedev.net/reference/list.asp?categoryid=18

www.gameai.com

i think they've got info & tuts about most of the things. (neural nets [never got mine to work however...], pathfinding etc...).
I thinkt the guy owning the page also wrote some articles, which got published in GameProgrammingGems etc... Definitifly worth taking a look at...

OT: how do you edit your own posts? just realized that the part with "never got mine to work" could be misinterpreted a bit... (no i aint talking about my brain... ^_^ )

Ability to edit posts is gone for now, as we had one instance of someone who had been around for a while (CodeRed) going through and clearing out every one of his posts and creating a new handle without telling anyone, and then a new visitor posting a message deriding the site without looking around first, then clearing his complaints out in embarrassment and making the original replies puzzling. I've thought of granting individual users the ability to edit on request. Does anyone think this would be a good idea?

never thought about it that way (new to this site/board) and usually you got the option to edit things you write... (although theres a note in the post afterwards saying you edited it)

well whatever :)

Yes, I think that maybe it could be based on the maturity of your account, and that you cannot edit posts more than a day or so old.

I just noted something, but never used it, for fear of getting something bad happen to me, but on the topic listing page if your the last one to post to a thread, you do have an option to edit it...

I will have to check again though...

Correction... that should be:

Option to view the "Access is Denied" screen :)
